Case Study for G Lab | Gaming Keyboard 3D Product Promo

Pixel Studios Inc. delivered a full CGI 3D promo for G Lab's gaming keyboard, modeling, texturing, lighting, and animating the hardware as a photoreal hero object to sell the feel of a product no photograph could capture.

Project Objective

To launch G Lab's gaming keyboard with a premium sensory promo that communicates feel, detail, and build quality no static photo could deliver.

Our Approach

We rebuilt the keyboard digitally from reference photography, simulating per-key RGB lighting and surface detail, then structured the edit as a cinematic escalation.

Target Audience

Gaming hardware enthusiasts and buyers who scrutinize component-level detail before purchasing.

Selling the Feel of a Product You Can't Touch

Gaming hardware sells on feel: the click of a switch, the glow of per-key lighting, the heft of an aluminum plate, none of which survives a static product photo. G Lab needed a launch asset that could stand next to content from far larger brands.

A Saturated Category and a Camera That Can't Get the Shot

Gaming peripheral marketing is an arms race of neon renders and drone-shot desk setups, and audiences scroll past anything that looks template-made. Physical photography also locks a brand into whatever prototype units exist, punishes reflective and glossy surfaces on camera, and can rarely deliver a hero cut, social verticals, and retail stills from a single shoot without compromise.

One Digital Build, an Entire Launch Kit

We modeled the keyboard to a tolerance that holds up at full-screen macro resolution, simulating RGB lighting per key so animations behave exactly as the firmware does. The edit escalates from darkness and silhouette through detail passes on switches, lighting, and build, peaking in a kinetic typing sequence cut to sound design, shot with the long lenses and shallow depth of field of product cinematography rather than a software render. Because everything lives in one 3D scene, the hero promo, vertical cutdowns, feature loops, and retail stills all came from a single build.

The Results

The promo gave G Lab a launch presence that punched above its category weight, anchoring the product page and outperforming prior launch creative on social.

  • 120% higher social engagement versus the brand's previous launch content
  • One 3D build generated the entire multi-format launch kit
  • Reusable scene already absorbed a follow-up request with zero new production cost
